Supermarket revenge
From Gray.co.uk
I am totally fed up with the amount of packaging that I get now. What I have started doing is filling up all the non-recylable carrier bags with the outer wraps and all other excess packaging they sell me. I then take these with me next time I am at the supermarket and fill their bins with it.
This doesn't cost me any money or take me any time as I would have to do the packaging run to the wheely bin anyway. I pass the bins when I go into the supermarket so its not really a hardship.
If enough of us were to do this they would soon start cutting down on the packaging to save themselves money. Please note I don't put all the packaging in as the food does need some. I just put what I feel is excess. For instance the tubs of meat pate that then have an outer sleeve on them and the ready meals that have both a tray, then a polythene bag then a box.
With this and the junk mail idea I have gone from a full recycle wheely bin each fortnight to a half full one and most of that is aluminium trays from the takeaway now.
