This is some of my wanders through WikiPedia. When I need some information I tend to look things up via google and check out what WikiPedia says. If I have time I will follow links and learn new stuff. Here is a small sample of some of those wanderings.

[edit] Margarine

Margarine was Invented by Michel Eugène Chevreul for Napoleon. He was born in Angers (pronounced awnjay). Having Travelled through Angers on my way to Saumur it was an interesting link for me.

Angers is also where Joseph Proust and Édouard Cointreau (inventor of the drink) comes from.

Not only did Chevereul invent margarine he discovered the composition of stearin and oelin which helped improve candles and produce Margarine. He also discovered simultaneous contrast and interesting effect that makes the same colour look different depending on what colours are around it.

[edit] AntiSeptic

I knew that antibiotics hit bacteria and that antivirals hit viruses. I didn't know what antiseptics were for though.

Due to a small infection I bought some Savlon cream and it contains cetrimide and chlorhexidine Gluconate the latter is also used in the mouthwash called corsodyl. It's quite an interesting read (antiseptic link).

[edit] Voltaire

Voltaire was a philosopher and writer whose real name was François-Marie Arouet and was born in Paris France. He was exiled from France and lived in England for 2 Years where he became a fan of Shakespeare and our Constitutional Monarchy.

He respected our freedom of speech and religion and this respect caused him problems when he returned to France.
